Kate grew up outside of Findlay, Ohio, where she attended Van Buren Local Schools. She was an athlete and enjoyed musical activities, including playing the piano. Kate graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Findlay and obtained her Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law in Ada, Ohio. While at ONU, she was a founding member of the school’s Innocence Project. This was also where she met her husband and fellow attorney, Gordon.
Since 2002, she has been fortunate to practice in the area of civil litigation (including appellate practice). Her current practice is devoted to assisting borrowers in their fight against lenders, whether to retain or walk away from their homes. Kate is licensed in Ohio as well as The United States District Court, Northern District of Ohio, South District of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Kate was selected for inclusion in the 2016 and 2017 Ohio Super Lawyers® – Rising Stars, a designation reserved for the top 2.5% attorneys under 40 in the State of Ohio.
Kate resides in Shelby, Ohio, with her husband and two sons, Nic and Max. She was a former chairperson of the City of Shelby’s Civil Service Commission and was the former treasurer for her children’s PTO. Outside of work, Kate enjoys running, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
